Beginning your journey to adopt a new family member with Barrhead Animal Rescue is straightforward! Here's how to start:

1. Browse Our Adoptables: Visit our Adoptable Cats or Adoptable Dogs on our website to see the wonderful animals currently looking for their forever homes. This section is updated regularly.
   
   
2. Submit an Application: Once you've found a cat you're interested in, or if you're ready to start the process generally, please complete one of our online Adoption Application Forms. These forms helps us understand your living situation, lifestyle, and what you're looking for in a companion, ensuring the best possible match.
   
   
3. Application Review: Our dedicated team will carefully review your application. We may contact you for further clarification or to schedule an interview.
   
   
4. Meet & Greet (by appointment): If your application is approved, we will arrange a meet and greet with the animal you are interested in. As a foster-based rescue, these meetings are by appointment only and take place in a suitable location.
   
   
5. Finalize Adoption: Once a successful match is made, we'll guide you through the adoption agreement and finalize all necessary paperwork. We are committed to finding loving, permanent homes for all our animals and appreciate your patience and cooperation throughout this process.

As a foster-based rescue, Barrhead Animal Rescue's capacity to accept surrendered animals is dependent on the availability of foster homes and financial resources at any given time. While we strive to help as many animals in need as possible, we do not have a physical shelter facility and must ensure we can provide proper care and a safe foster environment for every animal we take in.

If you are facing the difficult decision of surrendering a pet, please contact us directly via email to discuss your situation. We will assess our current capacity and, if we are unable to accept your animal immediately, we can often provide resources or guidance on other options available in the community. Please understand that due to limited resources, we may not always be able to accommodate every request.

Absolutely! Volunteers and foster families are the backbone of our rescue. We rely on dedicated individuals to help with everything from daily animal care and facility maintenance to administrative tasks and fundraising events. Fostering an animal is an incredibly rewarding experience that provides a temporary home for an animal in need, allowing them to decompress and thrive outside of a shelter environment.
