Helping the strays of today become the pets of tomorrow

We rescue stray animals from the streets, offering them the love, care, and a forever home they deserve. By providing essential veterinary care and a safe environment, we transform the lives of these lost animals into beloved pets, ready to bring joy to a loving family.

About Our Rescue

Providing Safe Havens For Unwanted Pets.

We help transform lives one paw at a time, providing a second chance for animals in need.

In 2010 our rescue organization was founded to provide a safe and nurturing environment for unwanted, abandoned, lost, and mistreated pets until they can be placed into loving homes. Our cats and dogs come to us from all kinds of environments and situations. This includes feral animals, pets surrendered by their owners and transfers from the ASPCA and RCMP.

Through proactive intervention, public education, fundraising events, and community outreach, the Barrhead Animal Rescue Society seeks to promote respect for all life by breaking the cycle of abuse, neglect, and pet overpopulation in our communities. Our non-profit is based just outside of Edmonton, and is supported entirely by volunteers and private contributions!

Duke

Shepherd Mix - (Age: 2.5 Years)

I'm an intelligent, energetic dog looking for an active family who can provide me with lots of training, exercise, and a furry friend to play with! My new forever home should have a fenced yard and a confident canine companion. I may need some time to warm up to new people, but once I do I'm a loving and playful dog.

Belle

Collie Mix - (Age: 2 Years)

An energetic Collie mix who loves to play but can be shy with new dogs. She's house-trained, crate-trained, and good with cats. While she thrives with canine companionship, slow introductions are key. Belle is protective of her family and may need space when feeling overwhelmed.

Jade

Shepherd Mix - (Age: 1.5 Years)

Jade is a high-energy pup who loves to play, especially tug-of-war. She loves to play with other dogs and enjoys walks and exploring. While she prefers freedom, Jade is crate-trained and enjoys cuddling. She's also good with kids and loves to cuddle, making her the perfect addition to an active family.

Kate

Domestic Shorthair - (Age: 6 Months)

I'm an independent spirit and enjoy my alone time, but I always come running when you call. I’m a bit shy at first, but once we’re friends, we’ll have the best cuddle sessions. I love to chase toys around the house and yummy treats. I’m not sure I like other pets but once I’m comfortable I love people!

Bruno

Domestic Shorthair - (Age: 3 Months)

A curious and energetic kitten who loves to play and chase toys. I'm also a mellow cuddlebug who enjoys relaxing after my adventures. I'm good with dogs who give me space and love meeting new people. Adopt me and I'll fill your life with playful antics, loving purrs, and unconditional love.

Cosmo

Domestic Shorthair - (Age: 1 Year)

A handsome and gentle 14-month-old tuxedo boy, rescued from the streets of Barrhead by BARS, is a shy-turned-confident cat who loves affection on his own terms. He enjoys playtime with feathery wands and naps in sunny spots, and he's learning to tolerate being picked up for short cuddles.
